Perfectly preserved, unmolested and well cared, that nice vintage light rifle is extremely accurate it weights 6-lbs.2-oz. A monogrammed composition buttplate ends the 13¾" LOP stock. To mount a larger scope, I found some Leupold rings, probably on ebay. So, I think I would stick with the mediums (or high if you have a scope with a large objective). With a 40 grain bullet it's probably close with the heavier bullets. 5' high at 50 yards you can basically hit anything within 2-2.5' out to 250 yards. They limit the ocular lens to about 1.4' outside diameter in order to clear the bolt handle when opened. A bit out of date but still a great accurate round. The classically elegant stock is made from light colored dense French walnut, with rounded forend, egg shaped cheekpiece, well checkered forearm and capped grip. I have a '68/'69 L461 with the above 'low' rings. The all steel small action, with machined grooved receiver sports a second type safety shroud and is of upmost quality.įeeding is through a detachable magazine box and the adjustable trigger is tuned to a light and crisp let off.Ī period Weaver KV 2¾-5x scope with fine cross hair is mounted on low Sako 1" monobloc detachable first type rings. The 24" Bofors steel barrel doesn't bears its rear sight but retain the front one with its original bead and sliding protector. Looking forward to shooting it when we get down to the farm over Christmas. That rarely encountered L.46 was build circa 1953 in Riihimaki, Finland, and it's chambered for the then new 222 Remington cartridge. He said he knew where it was if he needed it. I told him I didn't want to take it, but he insisted. A good choice for target or varmint shooting.

You pull it and it sets the front trigger to have a pull in the ounce range for long range shots. I had never seen that before so he explained the back one as a "set" trigger.

The stock is a Bishop walnut stock with a Monty Carlo and pistol grip. He pulled a heavy barreled rifle from a case and it had two triggers. The blue is good with some scattered wear and a few blood spots. We started talking guns and he began dragging out his iron. Condition:Very good overall with a very good. Replacement Fajen wood stock, housed in a homemade wooden box.
#Sako riihimaki 222 serial number#
We have hunted, fished, frog gigged, built stuff, broken stuff and fixed stuff my entire life. .222 caliber, 24 heavy barrel, serial number 13934. Saturday afternoon I was sitting around having a couple of beers with an old family friend which I would classify as my second Dad.
